Interviste | To be in Eurovision Song Contest is already a victory.

On your Myspace there's a long list of experiences in virtue of whom is noted that you are self made men. Now you have a great occasion, and it's ESC. Why do you have thought to join the San Marino selections?
We think that's everybody needs to start from the base, and it's fundamental for all musicians. To start from the base helps you to appreciate moments like this. Our check-room lays since the start in San Marino and also the band is quite Italo-sammarinese, on account of 2 of 5 in our band are citizen of the ancient "Repubblica del Titano". And that's why our choice.
San Marino is a country of about 40,000 inhabitants.... Do you think you are in front of a big challenge, even too much difficolt for your band?
(Note: In Italy this question is posed as the stock phrase belove: "Vi sentite un po' come se foste stati gettati nella parte alta della piscina il primo giorno per insegnarvi a nuotare?"; that litterally can be translated as: "Do you feel as someone have throw you in the higher part of a swimming pool in the first day you try to learn to swim?"; the MiOdio's answer is formed on the italian question)
Now we can face the challenge, or we'll be overcome.... fortunatly San Marino is near the sea, and we all can swim perfectly. Joking aside, we believe that on the stand, every single artist must demonstrate his skill, trying to touch the public with his music.
How do you fell, thinking that, in three minutes, you'll be seeing by a huge audience of milions?
It'll be wonderful, terrifyng but wonderful.
ESC is the most important and famous musical event in Europe, and even beyond. Do you known ESC before your partecipation?
A little, but until a few days ago, we don't have an idea of what a big event it is.
How do you compose your song, "Complice"?
"Complice" rises from the huge musical sensibility of Francesco Sancisi (Sanchez, keyboards and samplers) and from Niko Della Valle (Vox, voice) reguarding the text. Of course, as always, all the band contributed a lot in arranging the song. That piece is very important for us, and we get excited in singing it live, and have also a deep matter. "It's dedicated to my muse, who with her presence and switness accompanies all my steps", says Niko.
Why have you chosen to sing in italian and not in english?
Because italian is a wonderful speech, it represents our country, our history, our art.
What do you think about countries singing in english, instead of their mother tongue?
We believe everyone have to make his choice; surely english is an universal way and it can reach more easier people and medias. But if there'll be only english at an international contest, it'll be a lack of sense.... indeed, the same music doesn't have sense.
On our forum we tryed to classify you. There is someone, who compares you with Finley, who Subsonica and who Le Vibrazioni. What are your insipiring singers?
That's normal comparing a new group with artists already knowns and tested... maybe the same groups up there should have answered at the same question that compares they with artists already knowns. Really, reguarding music, we are inspired by "britpop" and Eighty's Music. In particular Depeche Mode and Duran Duran.
At ESC 2008 there are two others songs in italian: the Switzerland one, performed by Paolo Meneguzzi and, in part, the romanian one, performed by Nico and Vlad Mirita. Italy doesn't joined ESC. What do you think about this?
It's a pity, also because in the rest of Europe ESC is considered something very, really fascinating. That's an incredibile window for every artist, and the lack of Italy for so much time is hardly explainable. Afterwards, we have to do the best that we can to honour our language and our Nation... who from San Marino, who from Switzerland, who from Romania.
Have you ever think about an entry in SanRemo Festival, or you'll like it, in future?
Good or bad, everyone and everywhere talk about the Festival. SanRemo Festival is the story of italian music, all most important italian artists, no one excepted, joined the Ariston stand, and we known that nowadays is still a very important window.
Maybe compared with Eurosong is less spectacular, but for a musician it will represent always a confrontation with passed and future history of italian music... and MiOdio will be very glad to join this history.
Do you have listen to the other nations' entries? Do you like any?
We have listen to a lot of songs of our semifinal yet, and really, there are some works very beautiful and special.
We liked Belgium entry, but also Finland entry have some kind of particular. It will be surely a show very varied and at high level.
What do you expect from Belgrade experience?
We think join a fascinating show like Eurovision Song Contest is already a victory. In our music lay our dreams, our hopes, our lives; be able to share it with millions of people is already an incredible achievement.... However, if we can make only a request.... only a person touched by our song "Complice" will be enough.
What are your future plans?
ESC partecipation fulfill the marvelous work done with our label Opera Prima.
We have just ended our first CD that will be handed out accross italian national market in the next months.
At the same time, our video, recorded with a special guest, a famous italian showgirl, will be broadcasted on the most famous music channels. To learn more... eyes and hears open on MiOdio!
Last question: Do you know that also and irish turkey joined the Contest?
Yes, we know that, and they will compete in the same semifinal that we do. We hope that he doesn't get away unscathed, not we!
We tank MiOdio and their Press Agent, Tommaso Cennamo, for their kind contribution.
